SUMMARY
Provide uninterrupted supply of purchased materials. Order and schedule materials to support customer expectations based on intimate knowledge of established supply chain and through accurate and proficient use of corporate manufacturing resource planning (MRP) tools. Monitor and control inventory levels in concert with customer seasonality and product lifecycles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned in addition to the following:
Evaluate suggested buy, defer, expedite and exception reports.
Review exceptions on Purchase Order (PO) acknowledgements with the appropriate individuals (Master Production Scheduler regarding impact of late delivery; a Strategic Buyer regarding pricing or terms; etc).
Review and cancel PO releases as required.
Arrange expedited deliveries from suppliers if needed.
Arrange drop-shipped deliveries to outside operations.
Work closely with the Manager Manufacturing and Production Supervisors to ensure timely delivery of materials and provide immediate notification of all situations affecting delivery or quality.
Expedite parts or material and initiate corrective action as appropriate based on cause identified.
Arrange for rework or replacement shipment of parts or materials on non-conformance reports and follow on resolution and corrective action.
Monitor/delay/expedite purchased materials as necessary to control inventories, provide for smooth production, and manage transportation costs.
Implement Lean Manufacturing Inventory Management principles as appropriate.
Conduct cycle count activities as necessary.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned in addition to the following:
Support corporate purchasing group in production and nonproduction commodities as needed.
Remain knowledgeable and current with recognized procurement practices.
Accompany Strategic Buyer on select supplier visits to enhance knowledge of supplier capabilities and commodities.
Resolve receiving discrepancies with assistance of Strategic Buyer as required.
Support goals and objectives for inventory reduction, returnable packaging, etc.
Provide back-up support to plant level customer support and order entry.

Required
Qualifications:
Business, Engineering or technically-oriented business College Undergraduate degree strongly preferred; or a combination of a business/technically orientated Associates degree and at least two (2) years of Materials/Purchasing/Supply Chain experience; or a high school graduate (or equilivant) and at least six (6) years related experience.
At least one (1) year's related experience as a Buyer or Buyer/Planner in a manufacturing organization.
Experience performing functions using an ERP System (strongly prefer experience with XA/Mapics).
Strong computer skills including solid knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office Suite products required.
Strongly prefer APICS, CPIM, CSCP or related certifications.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Less than 10% travel. Employee must be able to drive moderate distance (up to eight hours) by car/van and fly in an airplane domestically.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
